Admission Rules
- The Principal forms a committee for admission to Undergraduate courses; in this respect the decision of the committee and the Principle would be final.
- For admission to Bachelor of Arts course, minimum required percentage at the 10+2 level is 40%; but in case of SC/ST candidates, with 5% relaxation, it is 35%.
- If a candidate has applied for admission and the results of 10+2 compartment/supplementary examination are awaited, admission can be made provided the results are declared on or before the last date of admission.
- Students who have passed 10+2 examination from National Open School are eligible for admission to B.A. course.
- Students should produce a Character Certificate issued by the Principal of the Institution last attended; in case of private students the same certificate, issued by a Gazzetted Officer, an MLA/MP or the Principal / Proctor of an institution, should be produced.
- SC/ST candidates are given benefits of reservation of seats under the Uttarakhand Govt. GO No. 1144/continuation-2-2001-53(1)/2001 as follows:
- i SC- 19%
ii ST- 04%
iii 0BC- 14% - Across all categories, reserved and general, horizontal reservation is as under:
- i Female – 30%
ii Ex–Army Personnel – 5%
iii Handicapped – 3%
iv Freedom Fighter – 2%
v In case of handicapped candidates, a certificate issued by a Chief Medical Officer should be produced, clearly mentioning the category. - If candidates are not available for reserved seats the same will be filled by candidates from general category.
- All students of B.A. 2nd year (Private/Regular), compulsorily have to study Environmental Sciences along with other three subjects of their choice (as per decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and order of the Government of India).
- Transfer Certificate should be produced before the admission.
- All regular students should present themselves in front of the admission committee with all of their testimonials for verification of the documents.
- For Undergraduate courses a candidate may remain a regular student for a maximum duration of six years, in which a gap period of one year is also included. For Postgraduate courses this duration is 4 years with a gap period of one year.
- If a student has not appeared in the final examination due to medical reasons, he or she can be considered an ex-student if he or she has attended classes through the year, has been issued an admit card and roll number, and has a medical certificate stating the medical reasons.
- Any student found using unfair means will not be given admission.
- After the last date of admissions applications of those candidates who did not get admission will be automatically rejected.
- A candidate should mention the number of times his application has been previously rejected in his application form.
- A regular student will neither take admission in any other institution in the same session nor will appear for any other degree examination. If any such case is found the university has the right to invalidate his admission.
- If a private student seeks admission in B.A. 2nd year as a regular student, then his minimum percentage of marks in the previous examination should be 40%.
- The caution money deposited by the students shall be held safely for only one year after the candidate has passed out; thereafter it will be considered lapsed.
- Guidelines for selection of subjects for BA 1st year:
– A student may choose any two of Hindi, Sanskrit and English
– A student cannot choose music, art or history with geography
– Geography can be taken up by only those students who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with geography or, in the science stream, with mathematics or biology
